Smoked Salmon Christmas Canapés with cream cheese, fresh dill, fresh chives and a cucumber Christmas tree swirl
Ingredients
- Any type of bread
- Smoked Salmon
- Fresh Lemon
- Fresh Dill
- Fresh Chives
- Cucumbers
- Caviar
- Pomegranate seeds
- Toothpicks
- Olive oil
How to make: Smoked Salmon Christmas Canapés

To make your Smoked Salmon Christmas Canapés:
- Chop up your fresh chives finely
- Remove the dill from the stalks so you have a tiny strand for each canapé
- Put your cream cheese into a piping bag (or, like me, you can use a sandwich bag for this and cut one corner)
- Using a potato peeler, peel the cucumber thinly, length ways and set aside
- Using a rolling pin, roll over your slices of bread and using a small cookie/biscuit cutter cut out circles
- Brush a small amount of olive oil onto both sides of your bread circles and push into a mini muffin tray
- Bake for 10-15 minutes at 180 degrees – you want these to be golden in colour and toasted enough so they stay firm and don’t go soggy
- Once they have cooled take a piece of smoked salmon and place in one side of the toasted bread cup
- Take the cucumber peel and a toothpick and push the toothpick through the cucumber slice to create your Christmas tree swirl. Add a pomegranate seed to the top and stick firmly into your smoked salmon (make sure to make your guests aware there is a toothpick prior to them eating)
- Squeeze a few drops of fresh lemon onto your smoked salmon
- Using your piping bag (or sandwich bag) Pipe some cream cheese to fill the remaining gap on the toasted cup
- Sprinkle the chopped fresh chives over the smoked salmon and cream cheese
- Add your caviar
- Garnish with fresh dill
