Freixenet & Miller & Carter, London – Christmas With Added Luxury Party

I was kindly invited to the Miller & Carter and Freixenet Christmas with added luxury party at Muswell Hill in London to experience their festive menu and I had such a lovely time!

It was held at the Miller & Carter restaurant in Muswell Hill, London which I have to say is an incredibly beautiful building and was easy to find. We were warmly greeted at reception and showed to the event area upstairs complete with a decorated, long table, Freixenet bar, photo stand and butchery demonstration area.

Everyone was so friendly and welcoming which made me feel right at home and calmed my nerves. I had never been to a blogger event before and was quite anxious beforehand, it turned out I have absolutely nothing to worry about as everyone was so lovely! We were shown to the Freixenet bar and told the drinks were complimentary all night (from the bar or the drinks menu) immediately I wished I had booked the next day off work!

We found our place cards, sat down and were told about the trio of starters we were about to be served including:
– Croxton Manor Cheddar Mushrooms
– Spiced Rum Barbeque Glazed Cluck & Duck Wings
– (My favourite) Lobster, Samphire & Lemon Mascarpone Rillettes served with toasted rustic bread.

The Spiced Rum Barbeque Glazed Cluck & Duck Wings had an incredible flavour, they were sweet, sticky and cooked to perfection. The fresh flavours in the Lobster, Samphire & Lemon Mascarpone Rillettes complimented each other extremely well and the mushrooms were lovely and cheesy.

We were then led to the butchery demonstration held by the lovely Jim from Fairfax who explained how much attention to detail went into each Miller & Carter steak from choosing the cow to how it is cut. They can trace each steak back to the exact date, time and location the cow was taken to the abattoir.

It was reassuring to hear about how much effort goes into each steak and we learnt a lot of interesting facts including:

Each 30-day aged steak is hand cut as the trained eye can cut a steak perfectly rather than using a machine.A cow is called a heifer before it has calves then becomes a cow after. The little ear tags that cows have are actually their passports!Miller & Carter only accept cattle that are younger than 30 months old ensuring that the muscles have not been over worked and the meat is tender.

All eager for steak we headed back to the table for our mains, I had the fillet which I’ve been told has the best texture but not as flavoursome as the other cuts however it had plenty of flavour and was cooked perfectly (medium, rare) accompanied with a perfect porcini mushroom & black garlic sauce, onion loaf, buffalo tomato, fries and huge lettuce wedge dressed with buttermilk ranch & croutons.

After our incredible steak experience, we headed over to the Freixenet bar where we were then told more about the refreshing Prosecco and Italian sparkling Rose. Both are extra dry which is my favourite as I find sweet wines a bit sickly so was thrilled when I first tasted it. The Prosecco is made from the finest Glera grapes in Italy’s Prosecco region of Veneto and the sparkling Rose is made from a blend of Glera and Pinot Noir grapes. Both tasted fantastic, but the crisp Prosecco was my favourite and the bottles are so pretty!

After our Prosecco talk it was time for dessert, we were all quite full by this point but there is ALWAYS room for dessert! We were given a trio of the fantastic desserts from the festive menu including a dark chocolate torte, caramel biscuit vanilla cheesecake and a crème brûlée, all were delicious and a perfect end to a fantastic evening!

As if a complimentary 3 course meal, demonstrations and free-flowing Prosecco weren’t enough, we were also given gift bags which included 3 of my favourite things, Prosecco, Hotel Chocolat goodies and a gift card for another meal at Miller & Carter!

A huge thank you to Miller & Carter and Freixenet for your hospitality and generosity, it was a fantastic luxury experience I will never forget!
